This book had me in tears. It is powerful, relatable, well written and brutally honest. Within these pages are poems of the experiences of a young woman who lived through tragedy upon tragedy and yet, ultimately survives. The author is a true heroin, one who was a victim of the cruelty of the world but is now a success story. Unfortunately there are many who succumb to their pains similar to the ones written in this book, but the author is a survivor who gives hope to those struggling with similar circumstances. I pray anyone dealing with the evils we all must inevitably face will find this book and discover that there is always strength to be found and that we are not alone.﻿

It is heartbreaking, yet gripping, to join the author as she poetically provides insight into the agony she and those around her experienced living in poverty and among abusers. While Mishler seemingly puts so much on display in Little Girl Lost, a considerable amount is also left open to the reader's interpretation, such as in "March" and "Living with Ghosts," ensuring that your read is as thought-provoking as it is revelatory.﻿

From a little girl shrunken from the horrors imposed from one who should have nurtured, not tortured to a grown woman still fighting off the demons and stuck in her own nightmare, she wonders how the man who should have been there all along now claims to have found God, yet tended to forget he exists when her life has been one big question of why she was never good enough to make him change his ways.﻿
